About Japan Legacy Travel

A small Japanese team designing private, unrepeatable journeys across the country we call home.

We are a government licensed Japanese travel agency based in Kobe. We excel in planning custom trips for travellers who want from normal city tours to more than standard tours. From the first inquiry to the final departure, every detail — flights, accommodations, transportations, tours, places, meals, pace etc — is arranged for you.

What makes this different

Not a tour package. A trip built around you.

What travellers tell us matters most when they choose us over a large operator.

01

Private from the first hour to the last

No shared buses. No strangers. No fixed group departures. Every day is planned for your party alone — a couple, a family, or a small group of friends.

02

Planned around what you actually care about

Sake breweries. Farm stays. Fishing at dawn. A quiet UNESCO site away from the crowds. Tell us what matters to you, and we'll build the route around it — not the other way around.

03

From arrival gate to departure gate

Hotels, bullet trains, restaurant reservations, guide coordination, logistics on the ground. From the moment you land to your final flight, we handle it — so you don't have to think about any of it.

04

A licensed Japanese travel agency

Registered under the Japanese Travel Agency Act (Hyogo No. 3-808). Our team works with local guides who know the quiet corners of the country, not only the famous ones.

05

Food and culture — not just sightseeing

Japanese food culture goes far beyond sushi. We bring you to the places locals actually eat — family-run sake breweries, farmhouse dinners, sunrise fishing boats, neighbourhood izakayas.

06

One team from first email to last goodbye

You'll speak with the same people who designed your trip, from planning through to the moments on the ground. No call centres, no handoffs, no "I'll check with the office."

Sample itineraries

Three starting points. No set routes.

Every trip is built from scratch — but most journeys centre on one of these themes. Use them as a starting point, then tell us what you'd change.

Heritage & Culture Kiyomizu-dera at dusk
4–6 Days · Kyoto · Nara · Himeji

Old Kyoto, Unhurried

A slower way through Kyoto and its old capitals, with early starts, well-timed visits, and room to linger where it matters. Temple precincts in the quiet hours, a private tea ceremony with a local master, and time in Nara and Himeji woven in without rush.

  • Visiting UNESCO heritage sites at the quieter hours
  • Walking shrine paths before the city stirs
  • Staying at a ryokan in Japan's older quarters
Food & Sake Lantern-lit izakaya alley
3–5 Days · Kobe · Nada · Hyogo

Along the Sake Road

A few days shaped around sake, kitchens, and the places that give them character. Breweries in the Nada district, meals made with local hands, and time at the table built into the journey rather than added on.

  • Tasting sake at a brewery in Nada
  • A Japanese meal chosen with local knowledge
  • An evening through a neighbourhood izakaya
Rural & Nature Rural river valley in Shikoku
5–8 Days · Shikoku · Kyushu · Beyond

Beyond the Last Train

For travellers drawn to the quieter edges of the country: fishing villages, mountain inns, and rural stays reached by small roads and slower trains. Time in Shikoku or Kyushu can include coastal mornings, hot-spring country, and nights far from the main flow.

  • A night in a ryokan in hot-spring country
  • A coastal morning in a fishing village
  • Quiet stretches of rural Shikoku or Kyushu, at your own pace

These are starting points, not fixed packages. Tell us what you'd change — or start from a blank page.

How it works

Four steps, and we handle everything in between.

1

Tell us about your trip

Share your dates, group size, and what interests you. A short form — no commitment of any kind.

2

We design your itinerary

Within a few days, you'll receive a personalised draft with regions, pace, and pricing — ready to review.

3

Refine until it's right

Ask questions. Swap a day. Add a region. We adjust the plan until every detail feels right for you.

4

Arrive and enjoy

We've already handled the logistics. You focus on the experience. If something changes on the day, so do we.

How your trip is handled

One team, from the first message to the last goodbye.

Japan Legacy Travel is a licensed Japanese travel agency. A small team plans the trip, coordinates the guides, and supports you on the ground — so every part of the journey is handled by people who know Japan.

01

Trip Planning

We design your itinerary from scratch — dates, regions, pace, interests, food, accommodation. A personalised draft is shared with you before anything is booked.

02

Local Guide Coordination

We arrange the right guide for each day and each region. Different guides bring different strengths — food, history, nature, local knowledge. English-speaking support throughout.

03

On-the-Ground Support

Reservations, transport, local communication, adjustments on the day. If something changes, we handle it. You focus on the experience.

"My mother and I had specific ideas how we wanted to spend our one day in Kyoto. Our cruise ship docked in Kobe. Taiga met us at the terminal, and we took the bullet train to Kyoto for our private tour. Taiga not only ensured that we visited all destinations but also gave us insightful historical and cultural information. The tour exceeded our expectations!"

"In Kyoto, Taiga took us to some popular spots and had great insight into both the historical knowledge of each place and modern evolutions! [...] We ended the experience with a private Matcha Tea Ceremony where Taiga acted as a translator for the Matcha Master! In Osaka, we requested a food tour. Taiga came up with a great itinerary of the popular Osaka Food Options, with some great local places off the beaten path!"

"My wife and I had a wonderful private tour with Taiga. Even before the tour began, he communicated clearly and frequently to make sure we would be able to see the places we most wanted within the limited time we had. [...] He handled all the logistics for us, including transportation, sites to visit, and even food arrangements, which made the experience completely stress-free."
